CAPTN Energy is looking for an innovation manager

At the Institute for Business Administration at the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel, Professor for Supply Chain Management (Prof. Dr. Frank Meisel), there is a position as soon as possible

Initially to be filled for a limited period until December 31, 2025. The regular weekly working time corresponds to a full-time job (currently 38.7 hours). If the tariff requirements are met, you will be assigned to salary group 13 TV-L.

Background:
As part of the WIR! program, the BMBF is funding the “CAPTN Energy” alliance initiative, which is aimed at the maritime energy transition in the Kiel and Kiel Canal region. The initiative includes a partner network of currently around 50 companies, scientific institutions and social institutions that will carry out R&D projects on the maritime energy transition as part of the funding. Since the beginning of 2023, the CAPTN Energy Alliance has been in the implementation phase, which will last a maximum of six years. The position advertised here initially covers the first half of this implementation phase and can be extended by a further 3 years if the interim evaluation of the project is successful by the funder.

Responsibilities:
The position is assigned to the “Innovation Management” sub-project, which is dedicated to the organization of the alliance, its external presentation and, in particular, the successful initiation of spin-offs. In coordination with the CAPTN Energy steering group and the Alliance Advisory Board, it helps to shape the process of allocating funding to the Alliance partners and the selection of R&D projects. The areas of responsibility include:

Development of the alliance organization and the project office, in particular tasks to support the cooperation of the CAPTN Energy steering group, the advisory board and the project agency involved.

Advising potential alliance partners with regard to the development of R&D project proposals and supporting the steering group and advisory board with regard to the project selection processes.

Public relations work for the successful external presentation of CAPTN Energy and for qualified information of all project partners involved.

Initiation of transfer measures and promotion of spin-offs through systematic analysis of the funded CAPTN R&D projects for start-up potential, identification of possible founders and start-up ideas, organization of information events and transition to the spin-off phase with continuous support and consulting services.

Ongoing activities related to financial management and reporting of the sub-project.

Requirement profile:

  • A university degree (master’s or diploma) in an economics degree (business administration, economics, Wing, Winfo or similar) that has been completed with very good results
  • Competences in the areas of project organization, public relations, innovation management and/or spin-off support
  • Enjoyment and assertiveness in the search for market and start-up potential
  • Ideally, previous knowledge in the areas of maritime economics and/or energy transition
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written German and English
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • In addition to the CAU Kiel, the place of work is also the neighboring Science Center Kiel, where the CAPTN initiative has its project office.
